About this grant
The project goal is to develop and expand justice commitments of governments participating in the Open Government Partnership. To this end, the grantee will assist its members in developing and adhering to commitments on justice within their national action plans for open government. To support this effort, the grantee will work with national governments and their civil society partners to identify innovative approaches to embed access to justice needs within governing practices. Further, the grantee will work with local partners to help build institutional support for justice. Finally, the secretariat will continue efforts to sustain a global “Coalition on Justice” to provide coordinated advocacy to advance access to justice. In 2020-21, the grantee produced a series of policy papers outlining strategies for adopting justice commitments. Member state commitments to open justice saw the highest impact on effective governance among all issues addressed through the partnership. The Open Government Partnership currently brings together 78 national governments, along with local government and civil society partners, to promote transparency, accountability and more responsive governance.
