About this grant
The Double Up Food Bucks program, which is operated by the Fair Food Network, has been critical to increasing access to healthy foods for families in Flint since 2011. Double Up Food Bucks allows families receiving supplemental nutrition assistance program benefits to double their available dollars for fruits and vegetables. The model has adapted over time depending on the current environment in Flint. During the Flint water crisis, the program expanded to reach more families with lead-mitigating foods and now the grantee is increasing program innovation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This grant will support the development of an electronic application for enrollment in Double Up Food Bucks, thereby eliminating the need for an in-person appointment to enroll.
