Developing Community Foundations in Chile

About this grant

The project goal is to support the development of community foundations in Chile. Since late 2021, the Community of Solidarity Organizations has defined and promoted the concept of community foundations with Chilean philanthropy, civil society, academia, government and media. It has trained a team to execute a community foundation development program. After prospecting many possible locations, initiative groups were formed in three territories. The grantee will continue to stimulate the emergence of community foundations in Chile and strengthen those that come into being through technical assistance, seed and challenge grants, networking and learning resources. The grantee anticipates the formation of at least five community foundations in Chile over the next two years. Founded in 2008, the Community of Solidarity Organizations is a network of 260 nongovernmental organizations that support collaborative action to build a just, equitable and sustainable society in Chile.
