About this grant

The project goal is to promote community philanthropy in Brazil. Since 2018, the Institute for the Development of Social Investment has worked to raise awareness and build knowledge about community foundations in Brazil. The grantee recruited and trained 10 initiative groups that registered new community foundations, supported three existing community foundations, and helped the formation of another five new initiative groups. The grantee also disseminated knowledge about community foundations and provided them with national exposure. Over the next two years, the grantee will continue to strengthen, promote and support the development of community foundations in Brazil through: 1) consultancy and mentoring; 2) networking opportunities; 3) study trips; 4) curated online information resources; 5) national exposure; and 6) matching grant funds. Founded in 1999, the Institute for the Development of Social Investment is a philanthropy service organization that inspires, supports and promotes strategic philanthropy and its impact, primarily in Brazil, but also throughout Latin America.
