About this grant
This grant increase to the STEM Next Opportunity Fund will support a second fellowship at the U.S. Department of Education, entitled the Afterschool and Summer Learning Fellowship. This fellowship is a public-private partnership initiative geared toward advancing high-quality afterschool and summer learning programs and will build upon the first fellowship established through this project, the Robert Noyce-Ellen Lettvin Fellowship in Informal Learning. This initiative will: 1) strengthen collaboration between the U.S. Department of Education and other federal agencies in the area of afterschool and summer learning; 2) work to advance evidence-based afterschool and summer learning programs, including the 21st Century Community Learning Centers program and initiatives established through the American Rescue Plan; and 3) work with leading researchers to identify priorities in afterschool programs, including identifying new tools, strategies and technical assistance that improve expanded learning opportunities.
