About this grant
The project goal is to increase access to justice for poor and marginalized communities in Kenya. The International Commission of Jurists – Kenya Section does this by supporting its network of six community justice institutions, staffed by community paralegals. Prior support helped the grantee: 1) strengthen its support to these networks; 2) increase the representation of community paralegals at important national task forces and meetings on access to justice; and 3) serve as president of the Paralegal Society of Kenya. This grant will allow the grantee to continue supporting its network of community justice institutions, build capacity of paralegals on Kenya’s Alternative Justice System Policy and continue to tell the stories of community paralegals. The International Commission of Jurists – Kenya Section was established in 1959 and has a membership of more than 500 Kenyan jurists.
