About this grant

The Pediatric Public Health Initiative at Michigan State University will complete an economic analysis of the costs and benefits of lead service line replacement in Michigan. Concerns about the costs to municipalities of compliance with Michigan’s recent lead and copper rule have been raised. Over the past year, the new regulations and policy initiatives in Michigan and in other communities have resulted in groundbreaking new data quantifying lead in drinking water. Due to the new data being available, the grantee will use this grant increase to take advantage of the opportunity to evaluate and disseminate this new information for publication and manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals.
