About this grant

The COVID-19 Grassroots Justice Fund is intended as a short-term response to help fill the immediate financing gaps faced by grassroots justice defenders as they seek to meet the growing consequences of inequality and injustice spurred by the pandemic. The project aims to help these frontline workers save lives and address the escalating, intertwined health, economic and justice crises confronting communities around the world. This grant will help shore up grassroots justice organizations and innovative grassroots approaches that are vital in addressing the immediate justice challenges of vulnerable communities and the financial challenges hitting empowerment groups. The grantee, working in partnership with Namati and other justice actors, will administer and distribute responsive grants to address immediate needs. Based in Washington D.C., the Fund for Global Human Rights has distributed over $100 million to community-based rights organizations around the world.
