About this grant
The project goal is to help community foundations advance racial equity using the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. During the previous grant period, the Association of Black Foundation Executives conducted racial equity training workshops for 53 staff and board members from 20 community foundations, organized in two cohorts. Participants were exposed to a structural frame of reference, a shared language for talking about issues of race and a sense of what an intentional approach requires to be most effective. In addition, the grantee identified 20 community foundations that launched or expanded funds to support Black communities. In the upcoming grant period, the grantee will continue its training activities and plans to organize four cohorts for a total of approximately 100 participants from an estimated 35 community foundations. Founded in 1971, the Association of Black Foundation Executives is a national membership organization of predominantly Black trustees and staff of private, community and corporate foundations.
