About this grant
This grant will provide support to the Fair Food Network’s Double Up Food Bucks project in Flint. The grantee provides incentives for supplemental nutrition assistance program recipients to purchase fresh fruits, vegetables and dairy products at the Flint Farmers’ Market and grocery stores in Flint. Good nutrition, especially foods high in iron, calcium and vitamin C, can help mitigate the impact of lead exposure to Flint children and adults. Started at five farmers markets, Double Up Food Bucks is now implemented at 234 sites in Michigan and is a national model for healthy food incentives across 29 states.
