About this grant
The YMCA of Greater Flint has long been an important part of the Flint community. The grantee operates three sites: a downtown Flint facility, a Pierson Road facility and Camp Copneconic. Since 1961, the headquarters building in downtown Flint has provided essential services for physical and mental health wellness, as well as serving as an important gathering place for the community. In recent years, the downtown location has been particularly important to low-income individuals, the elderly and communities of color who have limited access to wellness opportunities. Camp Copneconic also continues to be an essential service for youth across Genesee County. Although the grantee has still been providing essential services to the community throughout the pandemic, its revenue and fund raising have been significantly impacted by the pandemic. This grant provides two years of general purposes support to allow the YMCA of Greater Flint to maintain its services, including keeping the downtown location open.
