About this grant
This grant to the Flint Institute of Science and History will support the operations of the Sloan Museum of Discovery and Longway Planetarium. A new museum will include over 98,000 square feet of exhibits as well as educational and community programming. The new facility is slated to open in late spring 2022. The state-of-the-art Longway Planetarium offers multiple shows for all ages and programming both onsite and through virtual classroom support. Summer camps, workshops and a monthly trivia night are among other regular programs offered through the museum and planetarium. The temporary space at Courtland Center will remain open until September 2021 and has been well received by the public both before and during the pandemic. The space attracted new audiences and allowed longtime supporters and visitors to stay connected with Sloan during renovations.
