About this grant

This grant will provide general purposes support to the Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project as they continue to supply legal resources and information to immigrants, as well as improve the systems that serve immigrants. During the previous grant period, the grantee conducted impact litigation that resulted in exponential growth, helped over 150,000 members receive work permits and supported more than 400 families in receiving justice. During this upcoming grant period, the grantee will respond to the ongoing needs of its members, expand its legal support systems and work towards system change through impact litigation. Founded in 2015 as an all-volunteer effort, the grantee joined the Urban Justice Center in 2016 as a fiscally sponsored project. In July 2019, the Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project became an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
