About this grant
The Western Reserve Land Conservancy is Ohio’s largest land conservancy and one of the largest in the nation. The grantee is centered in the Cleveland area and serves a 21-county region with a vision to provide thriving, prosperous communities nourished by vibrant natural lands, working farms and healthy cities. Achieving this vision requires reversing trends that have seen urban communities deal with redlining, predatory lending, poverty and declining property values; and farmers struggle to reverse pressures that have led to a loss of 700,000 acres since 1950. With this grant from the Mott Foundation, the grantee will undertake a wide range of work, including efforts to connect people to nature in greener cities, parks, trails, greenways and rural lands and endow a fund to steward preserved land in perpetuity through its Conserve, Connect and Sustain Campaign.
