About this grant
The Instituto Socioambiental is a forerunner in providing development solutions to protect the Amazon rainforest and the Indigenous people who call it home. This project supports the ongoing efforts of the organization to implement and develop management models for off-grid solar renewable energy projects in isolated Xingu River basin and Indigenous communities in the Raposa Serra do Sol Indigenous Territory in the state of Roraima. Over the next grant period, the project coordinators will hold meetings to monitor federal renewable energy universalization programs, share lessons learned and promote the social and environmental benefits of off-grid renewable energy. They will provide technical trainings and assistance to ensure successful replication, implementation and management of off-grid solar energy systems in the indigenous territories in the Xingu River basin and Amazon state of Roraima.
