About this grant
The Instituto de Energia e Meio Ambiente is a nonprofit Brazilian think tank focused on research, analysis and policy evaluation to contribute to socially and environmentally sustainable energy and transportation development and finance. Over the previous grant period, the grantee monitored the social and environmental impacts of thermoelectric power development and plans by development finance institutions to expand natural gas-fired thermoelectric generation into the electrical mix. Over the next grant period, the Instituto de Energia e Meio Ambiente will consolidate a community of practice to address the impacts of gas-fired thermoelectric expansion and develop more robust social and environmental safeguards for its finance.
