About this grant
The project goal is to raise awareness about social justice causes in South Africa. The Social Justice Initiative was established to mobilize resources from local philanthropists in support of social justice causes that promote fair access to constitutional rights, better delivery of services and a stronger democracy. Previous support from the Mott Foundation has enabled the grantee to provide thought leadership on social justice issues in the country, build solid relationships with philanthropists supporting social justice causes, and raise funds in support of organizations leading social justice work. During this grant period, the grantee will continue to champion social justice causes among wealthy South Africans to grow their support base, lead discussions on social justice issues and channel resources and funds to causes that pursue systemic change and promote access to justice, accountable governance and human rights in South Africa.
