The BRICS Policy Center — an initiative of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro — focuses on analyzing the evolving landscape of international development finance and its impact on social and environmental standards in South America. Over the past grant period, the Center enhanced its online databases to monitor Chinese investments in the region, established a tracking system for the clean energy transition and contributed to workshops and other knowledge-sharing initiatives. Over the next grant period, the Center aims to intensify its scrutiny and analysis of pivotal financial institutions involved in the shift towards cleaner energy. Additionally, Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro will collaborate with key stakeholders to promote the adoption of socially and environmentally responsible loan criteria within international financial institutions.
