About this grant
Access to affordable and equitable financing is the biggest barrier to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 7 — universal access to modern energy services by 2030. For the seventh consecutive year, the world has failed to invest the required financing towards the goal. The Kenya Climate Innovation Center has been working since 2012 to provide business development advisory services and financing to local entrepreneurs creating climate and clean energy solutions in Kenya. With this grant, the grantee will expand its provision of business development advisory and financing support services to support local entrepreneurs working to enable accelerated access to solar energy services for productive use within rural off-grid communities of Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
