About this grant

Energy development finance investments by the African Development Bank and the World Bank Group in Africa can be better transformed towards more distributed renewable energy services to increase the likelihood of meeting sustainable development goals on the continent. To address this challenge, this grant to Loughborough University will support the ACCESS Coalition to continue engaging African civil society towards influencing national and regional development finance institution investments away from fossil fuels to distributed renewable energy solutions. The grantee will support the ACCESS Coalition to strengthen its governance and support its member organizations towards more effective engagement of the African Development Bank and the World Bank Group distributed renewal energy investments. This work continues the Mott Foundation’s earlier three years of support to the ACCESS Coalition, which has increased civil society participation and engagement with the African Development Bank and the World Bank Group towards improved quantity and quality of investments for distributed renewable energy in Africa.
