About this grant
The Center for International Environmental Law was founded in 1989 to strengthen international environmental law, policy and management and ensure that environmental protection and community decisionmaking drive investment decisions at international financial institutions. Over the prior grant period, research and recommendations from the grantee have been incorporated into social and environmental policies at the International Finance Corporation and the Inter-American Development Bank. This renewal grant builds on two decades of efforts to promote strong implementation of environmental and social policies and practices at the World Bank Group, by ensuring that the accountability process results in meaningful, effective remedy for communities that have suffered harm.
