About this grant
Although many children and families still lack savings accounts, the field’s recent growth has created a platform for advancing the next generation of children’s savings account policy innovations. While research evidence also shows that low- and moderate-income families successfully save in children’s savings accounts, field leaders are exploring innovative strategies for increasing seed deposits and growing overall account balances, especially among low- and moderate-income families. With Mott Foundation support, the University of Michigan will begin building the research and policy case for a shift from small- to large-dollar children’s savings accounts. To accomplish this goal, the grantee will publish research and policy briefs summarizing research findings and laying out policy arguments, prepare op-eds and blogs to help highlight ideas and create a network of stakeholders to help disseminate and promote new ideas.
