About this grant

The program goal is to support the organizational and programmatic development of People in Need, one of the largest nonprofits in Central and Eastern Europe. Founded in 1992, the grantee: 1) provides relief and development assistance in response to natural disasters and violent conflict; 2) promotes human rights, civic engagement and civil society development; and 3) supports social inclusion and integration for marginalized groups. During the grant period, the grantee will continue to respond to crises arising from war and conflict, natural disasters and the COVID-19 pandemic through its humanitarian relief programs and its support to civil society organizations working on education, human rights and social inclusion. Based in Prague, Czech Republic, this grant increase will enable People in Need to respond to the humanitarian needs arising from the war in Ukraine and support the work of Ukrainian civil society organizations during the crisis.
