About this grant
This grant provides general purposes funding to the United Way of Genesee County, a health and human services organization serving the residents of Genesee County through its impact focus areas, set to learn (supported learning and youth success) and basic needs (emergency support services, access to health, economic mobility and safety). In addition to the core focus areas, the grantee provides nonprofit sector capacity support through aligned fiduciary services and specific capacity-building activities, such as national service implementation. The grantee was heavily involved in the response to the Flint water crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic and also responds to unforeseen emergencies in the community with financial and human resources. Examples of this type of support include assisting residents when a large housing development suddenly closed or an event like a home explosion on the west side of the city that immediately displaced families.
