About this grant

American Rivers is a national organization whose mission is to protect wild rivers, restore damaged rivers and improve water quality for people and nature, and has long prioritized the importance of the rivers of the Great Lakes region. With previous support from the Mott Foundation, American Rivers has advanced green infrastructure solutions to stormwater pollution through innovative and equitable funding strategies. The grantee has an effective network of local water leaders engaged with local governments in the Great Lakes basin to capitalize on federal infrastructure funding, especially for vulnerable communities. With renewed support, American Rivers will build on their previous work in the region to help ensure the equitable distribution of federal infrastructure funds in Great Lakes states that result in clean water for people and the region’s waterways.
