About this grant
Milwaukee Water Commons is a grassroots organization focused on community engagement and organizing around water and climate resilience in the Great Lakes region, with an emphasis on environmental justice. Much of the decision-making and resulting policies around water and climate have not included the communities most impacted. The grantee’s programs and projects are intended to address this need by strengthening community and water leadership, advancing Milwaukee as a water city centered around equity and justice and informing policy through initiatives to build water, climate and racial equity in Milwaukee and the Great Lakes region. This grant will support programs and projects that address water issues in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and the Great Lakes, such as: 1) holding public events to increase awareness of water issues; 2) creating a drinking water initiative and water equity task force; and 3) serving on advisory committees for local, state and national organizations on water.
