About this grant
The Great Lakes Indian Fish and Wildlife Commission works with tribal governments in Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota to protect tribal interests and natural resources of ceded territories in the northern portions of those states. With support from the Mott Foundation, the grantee has identified and implemented steps to participate effectively in permitting and environmental reviews, conducted baseline water monitoring, mapped vital wetland habitats and helped implement aspects of the federal Clean Water Act. With this increase, the grantee will expand its monitoring protocol to collect data on water levels and chemistry in the Sand River of the Lake Superior Basin.
