About this grant
The project goal is to increase the awareness, understanding and engagement of the nonprofit and philanthropic sector with respect to digital policies and practices that impact the space for civic engagement. To this end, Civic Compass, a thought leadership division within Civic House, will expand research into artificial intelligence and internet regulation’s impact on civil society and further investigate technology’s effect on shrinking civic space in Latin America. At a time of increasing challenges to fund nonprofit organizations in the region, the grantee will also explore an alternative model for its sustainability via a combination of fee-for-service and grants. Based in Argentina with offices in Brazil, Colombia and Mexico, Civic House will capitalize on newly built regional and global partnerships as well as over 20 years of experience working with a new generation of citizen-based initiatives that use technology to drive social change.
