About this grant
The Indian Law Resource Center has been a crucial advocate for Indigenous peoples in the Americas for over 40 years, providing legal expertise to enhance policies, practices and accountability at national and international development finance institutions. During the previous grant period, the grantee gathered evidence to improve the accountability of development banks, strengthened capacities for implementing environmental and social policy standards and evaluated the safeguard policies of South American countries against those of multilateral development banks. In the upcoming grant period, the Indian Law Resource Center will continue to: 1) enhance Indigenous peoples’ capacities in selected South American countries to hold financial institutions accountable; and 2) push international and national development finance institutions to adopt safeguards that benefit Indigenous peoples.
