About this grant
The program goal is to support a healthy policy environment for the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors. The Regulation of Nonprofits and Philanthropy project aims to document, enhance understanding and promote dialogue related to the state and federal regulatory framework and its impact on charities, philanthropy and the nonprofit sector. This grant increase will enable the grantee to merge two large legal data sets, the Urban Institute’s own Legal Compendium and Dr. Teresa Harrison’s Legal Text Data. The grantee will also integrate the merged data into the National Center for Charitable Statistics Open Data Platform and the new Nonprofit Organization Research Panel Platform. The project is implemented by the Center on Nonprofits and Philanthropy at the Urban Institute — a think tank that builds knowledge about the nation’s social and fiscal challenges.
