About this grant
The Genesee Conservation District works closely with the city of Flint to maintain the city’s tree canopy. The vitality of a healthy tree canopy requires both the removal of dead and dangerous trees, as well as the planting of new trees. This grant increase will provide funding to increase the planting of new street trees from 250 to 315. The tree planting will take place in all nine wards throughout Flint over the two-year grant period. Trees are essential for the survival of both wildlife and people, and serve as an invaluable community resource.
