About this grant

This project, operated by IPS-Inter Press Service aims to increase the quality and quantity of journalistic coverage of energy and infrastructure development and finance in Brazil and South America. Since this project began in 2010, the grantee has mentored a network of 14 journalists and published a total of 488 articles and 50 videos covering the impacts of large-scale development and finance on communities and the environment. The reporting has tracked the gradual transition over time to more environmentally and socially sustainable development in light of climate change and its impacts. With renewed support, the grantee will continue to examine energy finance and development in South America through articles and videos. IPS-Inter Press Service is a global news agency operating in more than 100 countries and working in Latin America for more than 50 years with a network of journalists reporting from many countries in the region.
