About this grant
The World Wildlife Fund has supported environmental conservation work in Tanzania for the past 60 years, including initiatives that advance access to productive use of renewable energy services. This project supports the World Wildlife Fund to accelerate access to the productive use of solar energy services across two agricultural value chains. The organization will achieve this goal by establishing a centralized coordinating hub to support access to distributed renewable energy services for productive use at its Tanzania office. The hub will support a strong network of partner organizations, which will, in turn, facilitate better access to solar technical skills, local solar enterprise development and financial services. The lessons learned from this model will help influence the sustainable energy access field and inform related public policy with the aim of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving climate adaptation strategies, creating jobs and incomes as well as enabling more climate resilient livelihoods among participating local communities in Tanzania.
