About this grant
The project goal is to strengthen the Ukrainian community foundation field to support local civil society’s response to the ongoing conflict and involvement in Ukraine’s recovery and reconstruction. Since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Ednannia mobilized a total of $877,000 in support of Ukrainian community foundations’ efforts to help their communities respond to emergency needs. In the program’s first year, the grantee awarded 45 grants to 15 community foundations totaling $520,000, which was matched by another $298,000 from local donors. Over the next two years, the grantee will provide core support to existing Ukrainian community foundations, seed grants to new community foundation initiatives and matching grant funds to support local civic groups involved in recovery and reconstruction. The grantee will also provide support to the network of Ukrainian community foundations. Established in 1999, Ednannia is an indigenous grantmaker which is well regarded for its rigorous, transparent, responsive and effective processes to support community-level, grassroots organizations throughout Ukraine.
