About this grant
This project will support the World Wildlife Fund and its partner — World Wildlife Fund Brazil — to continue working on a national program for solar energy for forest-dwelling communities living in sustainable development reserves in the Amazon. As part of this project, the grantee monitors outcomes of managed solar energy pilots, promotes solar photovoltaic value chains in Amazon municipalities and coordinates a network of nongovernmental organizations working on renewable electrification in the Brazilian Amazon. With this grant increase, the World Wildlife Fund will conduct an energy needs audit in selected extractive and sustainable development reserves to help accelerate the universalization of energy access in remote communities of the Brazilian Amazon.
