About this grant
The Council of State Governments has brought together state and provincial policymakers from the binational Great Lakes region to learn about key issues affecting the lakes in the United States and Canada for over two decades. The Midwest office supports a caucus of policymakers to collaborate and build capacity to be effective leaders and stewards of this freshwater resource. With prior Mott Foundation support, the grantee educated and convened policymakers through forums and institutes to exchange information, share ideas and pursue opportunities collectively. Renewed support will enable the Council of State Governments to continue its Midwest programs and activities, creating a space for members to discuss and advance cooperative solutions to the problems impacting the Great Lakes with a strong regional voice.
