About this grant

The Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy, founded in 1991, is a land trust serving a five-county region located in northwest lower Michigan. In total, the conservancy has protected over 48,000 acres of land and 157 miles of shoreline along the region’s rivers, lakes and streams. During the last grant period alone, the conservancy: 1) protected 1,300 acres of land and over three miles of shoreline; 2) opened one new public nature preserve; and 3) enrolled two of its existing preserves in the nationwide Old Growth Forest Network. With renewal support, the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy will pursue a range of land and water quality protection projects, continue to promote collaborative conservation projects with partners and build organizational strength and staff capacity.
