About this grant
This renewal grant will support The Education Trust’s continuing work to increase the diversity of the educator workforce by educating stakeholders about effective solutions to improve the recruitment and retention of teachers of color. Objectives planned for the renewal grant period include: 1) continuing to increase awareness of viable and sustainable strategies to increase the diversity of the educator workforce, including building the afterschool staff-to-teacher pipeline; 2) informing federal and state policies to increase the diversity of the educator workforce, including by increasing investments in teacher residency models that provide opportunities for afterschool staff of color to become teachers; and 3) conducting additional research to inform the field’s understanding of the best ways to recruit, prepare and support more diverse educators. Based in Washington, D.C., the grantee is a research and advocacy organization working to close opportunity gaps and raise achievement for students of color and students from low-income families.
