About this grant
The Instituto Socioambiental is a Brazilian nonprofit dedicated to addressing environmental and social challenges in the Amazon. Over the previous grant period, the grantee collaborated with local partners and Indigenous communities to monitor the social and environmental impacts of large-scale infrastructure and energy projects in the Xingu River basin, offering technical and strategic communications support. In the upcoming grant period, the grantee will enhance community-led monitoring initiatives and provide technical assistance for specific projects, recommending safeguards for investors. Instituto Socioambiental will also produce and disseminate knowledge on large-scale infrastructure projects’ cumulative impacts on Indigenous peoples.
