About this grant
The Instituto de Energia e Meio Ambiente is a Brazilian think tank specializing in energy planning and environmental law and policy. This project supports the development of tools to expand renewable energy access for sustainable livelihoods in the Amazon. With the increase, the organization will assess lessons learned and offer recommendations from a decade of experiences by civil society with pilot renewable energy projects in Brazil. The findings will inform the implementation of Brazil’s federal Light for All program and offer valuable insights on the challenges of universalizing renewable energy in isolated Amazonian communities. Many will benefit from the results, including decision-makers in Brazil and other South American countries, nonprofit partners and the philanthropic community.
