About this grant

This grant to the Hurley Foundation will allow Hurley Medical Center’s sole patient outreach advocate to continue supporting the well-being of Flint residents through health education, reducing barriers to care, and assisting residents and families affected by gun violence while grantee staff continue to work toward securing additional funding for the program. Hurley Medical Center’s ability to employ a culturally competent patient advocate helps create an environment where residents feel their concerns are heard and addressed in a way that aligns with their cultural background. Ultimately this can lead to better health outcomes for residents and a more inclusive health care environment.
