About this grant
Since 2012, The Kenya Climate Innovation Center has been supporting local climate entrepreneurs with business development advisory services and affordable financing to advance climate and clean energy services in Kenya. Previous support enabled the grantee to expand its clean energy entrepreneur support services in Kenya and within two additional countries in the region, Uganda and Tanzania. The Center supported 30 entrepreneurs working on the productive use of solar energy services. These solar entrepreneurs, in turn, created 500 jobs and benefited more than 20,000 farmers with various clean energy services. The Center also convened two regional stakeholder meetings that brought together more than 90 different sector stakeholders from the three countries to share lessons and best practices on the productive use of solar energy services in East Africa. With this grant, the Center will consolidate these achievements by establishing a knowledge management platform that documents lessons learned to improve overall performance in the sector. The grantee also will continue to facilitate regional and in-country collaboration and coordination among various stakeholders.
