About this grant

For over 40 years, the Indian Law Resource Center has been an important voice for Indigenous peoples in the Americas and a source of legal expertise to improve policies, practices and accountability at national and international development finance institutions. Over the prior grant period, the grantee successfully advanced social and environmental safeguard review and implementation by the World Bank and Inter-American Development Bank. In the current grant period, the Indian Law Resource Center continues to hold financial institutions accountable and push international and national development finance institutions to adopt safeguards that benefit Indigenous peoples. This grant increase will enhance policy advocacy and capacity-building activities by supporting a convening of Indigenous leaders and community members in Jujuy, Argentina, in 2025. This gathering will be a critical platform for exchanging knowledge, experiences and strategies to further protect Indigenous rights and environments.
