About this grant
The project goal is to increase awareness, knowledge and engagement of nonprofits with policies and laws related to counterterrorism and anti-money laundering. To achieve this, the Civic Advisory Hub builds and strengthens the capacity of nonprofits to push back using credible information. With support from the Defenders Protection Initiative, the grantee has facilitated high-level engagements on anti-money laundering and counterterrorism funding through: 1) an annual conference; 2) dialogue platforms; and 3) research. Additionally, the grantee has provided capacity strengthening and technical support to groups working at the forefront of counterterrorism finance. The grantee was established as a separate arm of the Defenders Protection Initiative to lead work on anti-money laundering and counterterrorism finance in the region. The Civic Advisory Hub was formally registered as an organization in 2022 to support civil society organizations across the continent.
