About this grant
The program goal is to engage with community foundations across the United States in launching or deepening efforts to build welcoming communities and strengthen common ground. Welcoming America will provide the framework, tools and partnership to community foundations that are both already involved in the organization’s network or are ready to introduce their programming to local communities. Over the next two years, the grantee will reach 150 community foundations by: 1) advancing sustainable welcoming plans, policies and programs that foster connection; 2) equipping community foundations with practical tools to lead narrative efforts that emphasize shared values and belonging; and 3) activating a broader set of community foundation leaders to invest in welcoming as a strategy for strengthening civic cohesion. Welcoming America is a national nonprofit that helps communities become more inclusive and welcoming to newcomers and long-term residents alike. Founded in 2009, the organization works with local governments, nonprofits and community organizations to create environments where everyone can belong and thrive.
