About this grant
Since 2018, the Institute for the Development of Social Investment has worked to raise awareness and build knowledge about community foundations in Brazil. During the past two years, the grantee supported 14 community foundations and mobilized $1.2 million in donations to the program as well as in contributions to its matching grants to the community foundations. Over the next two years, the grantee will pursue the following pillars of action: 1) fostering the creation of new community foundations and bolstering the institutional capacity of existing ones; 2) strengthening the ecosystem and collective action of community foundations; 3) raising the visibility of the community foundation model; and 4) mobilizing supporters and resources for the community foundation ecosystem. Founded in 1999, the Institute for the Development of Social Investment is a philanthropy service organization that inspires, supports and promotes strategic philanthropy and its impact, primarily in Brazil, but also throughout Latin America.
