About this grant
The project goal is to transform the multilateral counterterrorism architecture so that it better promotes and protects civic space, human rights and fundamental freedoms. To this end, Saferworld USA, a nonprofit that works to prevent violent conflict and address the drivers of insecurity, will continue to host and strengthen the Civil Society Coalition on Human Rights and Counter-Terrorism. Activities will include United Nations advocacy, dedicated support for regional and national coalition partners and continued efforts to build the coalition’s governance and membership. This request supports the coalition’s work following the 2026 United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy Review and as the coalition undertakes a strategy review to shape a new five-year plan.
