About this grant
This grant will provide general purposes support for the Michigan CDFI Coalition to ensure that low- and moderate-income individuals, businesses and communities gain access to the banking system. To meet the goal of increasing access to the banking system, the grantee will: 1) create and provide direct technical training opportunities to borrowers and organizations that support those borrowers; 2) undertake best practice research, sharing and implementation amongst members with a renewed focus on Community Development Financial Institutions that have not participated in past activities; 3) ensure no wrong door to enter the banking system, including designing a referral system for borrowers; 4) produce and share reports on banking needs in low- and moderate-income communities based on data collection; and 5) highlight the need for more resources being deployed directly to Michigan community development financial institutions through ongoing education to policymakers.
