About this grant
The Bank Information Center partners with civil society organizations in developing countries to ensure that the operations and policies of the World Bank Group and other international financial institutions support local communities and mitigate any project impacts. With prior Mott Foundation funding, the grantee: 1) helped strengthen social and environmental safeguards of the private lending arms of multilateral development banks; 2) improved project monitoring; and 3) advocated for the incorporation of nature-based solutions in climate change projects. With renewed support, the grantee will combine field-based project monitoring, policy advocacy and civil society convening to address the persistent gap between climate commitments and outcomes experienced by communities impacted by energy transition infrastructure projects. In addition, the Bank Information Center will seek to advance climate-aligned energy and financing policies in borrowing countries.
