About this grant
The Instituto Internacional de Educação do Brasil is a Brazilian civil society organization with more than 25 years of experience supporting Indigenous peoples and traditional communities in the Amazon regarding land rights, territorial governance and forest management. With this grant, the grantee will work with four representative community associations in the Juruá and Madeira river basins. These associations are composed of and led by community members and serve as the governance organizations of their collective territories. The project will advance the legal recognition of about 880,800 hectares of collectively used forest lands, improve coordination with public agencies and strengthen local leadership to support long-term forest protection and sustainable livelihoods.
